Today Midway released its quaterly results and dispite the fact that net revenues dropped 9% it remains optimistic for the coming year with an estimated 3& revenue increase. In the subsequent conference call Midway revealed Epic Games' Unreal Tournament 2007 is currently scheduled for Winter 2007 (Dec. 2006 - March 2007). End of last year Midway closed Australian developer Ratbag, but predicts it will hire an additional 100 over the coming year and plans to steamline its production by improving tech sharing amongst internal studios.

UK's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) received three complaints from viewers about
misleading TV ads regarding Activision's Call of Duty 2 and CoD2: Big Red One and has them taken off the air. The complaints were made due to pre-rendered material, made exclusively for the TV ads, that do not represent the end user quality of the product. While Activision claims such practices are standard procedure, ASA does not agree and regulations do require ad material to be accurate representations of the product.

The past week a rumor was floating around MMO maker NCSoft could be working on its first single-player title, an action/rpg. Today at the start of the Taipei Game Show, Dungeon Runners was revealed. While details are still in short supply, such as whether it is an MMO or single-player product, we did manage to get the first screens. An official announcement should be coming up shortly.

On Friday, February 17, Team Legends emerged as the winner of EA's "Best of the Battlefield" video game tournament. The tournament, which was played on Xbox for Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, ended with a final score of 340 to 337, with Team Legends narrowly defeating Team Professional Skills.

Resident Evil: Deadly Silence will be a remake of the first RE title, released in 1996, but unlike the original, the DS version will not use pre-rendered graphics, but be in full 3D. One of the modes requires you to wipe the screen to slash your knife, and the dual screen will most likely be used for inventory and map. RE:DS will also support coop and other multiplayer modes.
