In anticipation of tomorrow's v1.2 update patch, EA has released an updated Win32 dedicated server for Digital Illusions' 3D action game Battlefield Vietnam. Digital Illusions has sold a development license for the Battlefield 2 technology to AerotechTelub. AerotechTelub will use the technology to power simulators used in the Swedish defense training programs. The agreement has an initial value of SEK 4 m.

EA has updated
the official Battlefield: Vietnam web site with news regarding the upcoming v1.2 patch for Digital Illusions' online shooter Battlefield Vietnam. Electronic Arts and Digital Illusions announced today that Battlefield: Modern Combat will feature a single-player mode when it ships in fall 2005. The game is currently in development for the PS2 and Xbox. Originally slated for a fall 2004 release, this means EA delayed the title for a year!

Computer Gaming World magazine will have the first information about Digital Illusions-Electronic Arts' BattleField 2 (working title). The game isn't a direct follow-up to Battlefield 1942 or Battlefield: Vietnam. Instead, it jumps forward to the world of modern warfare. The sequel will feature the latest in modern small arms, heavy weapons, and fighting vehicles -- M-4 carbines with IR scopes; M-60 machineguns with steadying bipods; M-1 tanks with reactive countermeasures; and of course, much more (

Electronic Arts announced today that the award-winning Battlefield franchise is coming to console for the first time with Battlefield: Modern Combat for the PlayStation2. The title, which is currently under development by Sweden-based Digital Illusions, is scheduled for release in late 2004 under the EA GAMES brand and will retail for $49.99.
