While there is no official English press release yet, it has been revealed by Japanese magazine Famitsu as Biohazard Deadly Silence, and probably know over here as Resident Evil DS. While no specific release date was provided, a few details did trickle through. For the very first time in franchise history, the next game in the series won't debut on a Nintendo platform, but is so far only scheduled for PS3 and X360. While it is way too early to speculate on a release date, Capcom producer Takeuchi Jun says "We would need 3 or maybe 5 years to fully exploit the capabilities of the new generation of systems, but right now this is the project Capcom is putting the most effort into." From the media available, it seems RE5 will feature Chris Redfield from the original RE and Code Veronica.

During E3 Capcom announced that it would be bringing Resident Evil 4 to the PS2, and that it would include brand new features, enhancements and exciting surprises. Ever since rumors have been floating around, but today a few extras were already unveiled. For starters, RE4 for PS2 will support widescreen mode, but most importantly feature a completely new and exclusive weapon, the P.R.L 412, which stands for Plagas Removal Laser, has the ability to eradicate parasites from the hosts body.

Capcom announced today that Resident Evil 4 will be released on PS2 and Gamecube. Capcom had initially announce RE4 to be a Gamecube exclusive, but reactions from the public suggested that Resident Evil 4 is to be expanded to other platforms other than the Gamecube, and that is why Capcom made the decision to do so. RE4 is expected on the Gamecube early 2005, while Europe has a Spring 2005 release date. The Playstation2 edition has a tentative release date of "end 2005" for all territories.
