EA revealed that the X360/PS3 bundle is scheduled for Nov. 23, and will cost $169, while PS2 gamers will have to wait until Dec. 3, but can then rock out for $159.99. For people who do not want the entire set, game and instruments will be made available separately.

Harmonix, MTV Games, and rock icons Metallica announced a deal that will see key tracks from the thrashers' catalog available as digitally-distributed game levels for Rock Band, with "Enter Sandman" shipping with the game this holiday season. The Who's "Who's Next" will be the first album available for owners to purchase, with new content planned every week following launch.

Rock Band launched at the end of 2007 to great hype and anticipation, quickly becoming the holiday gift for those who could afford the hefty price tag ($169.99). Garnering an average of 93% at Metacritic and moving over three million units, it would seem that MTV Games' gamble has paid off. Coming this September is the inevitable sequel, Rock Band 2, and the devs have taken fan feedback into account to figure out how to optimize the hardware and software experience.

How can a game be both so much more than its predecessors, and yet so much less at the same time? This conundrum defined what I saw of the upcoming Rock Band release, The Beatles: Rock Band. The game floored me as a Beatles release, but its heritage as a Rock Band game seems a bit tenuous.
