A Shanghai online game player has stabbed to death a competitor who sold his cyber sword for real money. The sale created a legal dilemma because China has no law covering the ownership of virtual weapons. The China Daily newspaper reported that a Shanghai court was told Qiu Chengwei, 41, stabbed competitor Zhu Caoyuan repeatedly in the chest after he was told Zhu had sold his dragon sabre, used in the popular online game Legend of Mir 3.

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California entered judgment in Immersion's favor in its patent infringement suit against Sony. The Court's judgment awarded Immersion $90.7 million in past damages and interest and also ordered Sony to halt U.S. sales of its PlayStation game consoles, although the judge immediately put her ruling on hold while the appeal is pending.

Eidos is preparing to announce the newest title in the Tomb Raider franchise is the next few days, as it has just put up a teaser page on
the official Tombraider website, saying an announcement is due soon. The website header reveals a possible 'Tomb Raider Legends' name, and the background picture hints at a possible Aztec or Egyptian setting, but thats pure speculation Back in 2004, developer Crystal Dynamicsm who just finished "Project Snowblind," took over the project from Crystal Dynamics and promises to bring the new Lara Croft game back to its roots, and more in line with Ubisoft's Prince of Persia.
