DreamCatcher Games today announced that is has shipped Besieger for PC in North America. Besieger is a real-time 3D strategy set in a medieval fantasy world in which rival players wage war as either Viking or Cimmerian warriors. Gamers conquer factions of Ogres, Werewolves and Centaurs and smash their way into the enemy’s heavily defended Citadels, while in turn defending their own domains. Version 1.2 of CS:CZ will be released next week via Steam. The update includes high-definition hostage models with all-new AI, 2 new player models, brand new maps, and other enhancements. The improved hostages will show emotions such as fear, attempt to escape on their own if ignored, and even talk to the player to give clues about what they've seen. The new player models feature the Russian SPETSNAZ counter-terrorist and Militia terrorist.

While Microsoft has publicly avoided discussing its next generation machine, it has been quietly conducting studies on the consumer appeal of a hybrid device that would play both PC and Xbox games. The B/R/S Group, a California-based market research company that lists Microsoft and the Xbox division specifically as clients, has been gathering consumer feedback on a device it refers to as Xbox Next PC – "a videogame console system with a hard drive and a built-in fully functional PC."
