Earlier today we attended Vivendi's pre-E3 event and one of the title on display was ... Saber Interactive's FPS TimeShift. Details about the sudden publisher change were not disclosed but it may very well have something to do with Atari's poor financial situation and the confirmation that closing studios and selling off assets were a possibility. Originally scheduled for release in May a VUGames representative did not want to speculate on its release date apart from "when we feel its ready." The Xbox edition was not mentioned at all so it may very well be cancelled.

Rockstar Games announced today that Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for PS2 will be in North American stores on June 6th, 2006 for the MSRP of $19.99 and will hit European retail shelves on June 9th, 2006 for EUR 29.99 and GBP 19.99 in the UK.

The Chronicles of Spellborn is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game set in the Enclave of the Five Sacrifices. Developed by Dutch studio Khaeon Games, previously known for Alpha Black Zero, Spellborn uses the Unreal 2.5 Engine. The closed beta test is currently underway, and more people will be allowed to join in the coming months.

In a community update, EA reveals more details on the upcoming BFME 2 v1.03 patch, "patch 1.03 for The Battle for Middle-earth 2 is in its final testing stages and should be ready for launch very soon. The patch will include numerous technical fixes, increased de-sync fixes, extensive balance changes, and the addition of five brand new multiplayer maps - all new locations to BFME 2, and one of which is the return of a popular BFME 1 multiplayer map, Fords of Isen." It also reveals patch 1.04 is already being worked on, which will be a much more comprehensive balance patch.

BFME 2 takes part in the North where a battle is raging between Sauron's forces vs. elves and dwarves. It will be possible to create/customize your own hero, apart from known figures such as Arwin, and become more powerful as you progress in the game. New York Times article covering the past, present and future of LucasArts, and its president Jim Ward, reveals that the company is working on a new title set in the Star Wars Universe. Although there are no plans for upcoming movies, there is still a vast untapped resource of material that can be used for games, and the NYT writer was privy to a demo of a yet unannounced game revolving around Darth Vader's history. No further details were disclosed, but with E3 around the corner, we will have all the latest details when we meet up with George Lucas' gang.

signed Sean O'Keefe and Will Staples to write the movie script for Atari Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure video game, a story about a young graffiti artist who goes on the run after discovering a dirty secret about government officials in his city.
