GSC Gameworld's S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is story-driven sci-fi team-based action game with dynamic gameplay of fast and tough combats, set in a detailed and interactive game world. In an interview with
German Oblivion Lost fansite, GSC revealed that while it is working on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky expansion, they are seriously contemplating bringing the franchise into the MMO market.

Last week, forumite michi.be over at the
MapCore chatboards raised questions about certain DOOM 3 / Half-Life 2 assets being used in GSC Game World's action/RPG S.T.A.L.K.E.R. As it turns out, those particular assets are indeed being used by both titles, but are part of
a package sold by Marlin Studios, which lists both Valve and Activision as its customers, and confirmed its pre-made textures are being used in Half-Life 2.

Revealed by forumite michi.be over at the
MapCore chatboards, it seems GSC World might have been using assets from DOOM 3 and Half-Life 2. Screen captures allegedly comparing the light image folders from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. to those of DOOM 3 reveal they had been modified in various ways, such as having hue or saturation adjustments, but the original filenames were kept (for example, a file with the Doom-esque name "lights_impflash.dds), referring to one of the game's enemies. id Software CEO Todd Hollshead
commented they are aware of the issue and are looking into the matter, indicating the use may not have been authorized.

In THQ's action game S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl you control a Stalker, venturing into the Zone in order to acquire information, technology and artifacts to sell and possibly put a mysterious puzzle together. Various reports have come in from people claiming that STALKER does not work properly with Windows Vista, causing crashes and other hiccups. GSC Gameworld is aware of the issue and is working on a patch.
