At a recent Sony event we had a chance to talk to SCEA's director of PlayStation Network operations and strategic planning Eric Lempel, and talked about the PSPgo launch, PSP minis and general PSN plans.

PT Boats is the first simulator of the Mosquito-fleet, created with the use of technologies never seen before in naval combat simulator games. Patrol Torpedo Boats were used in WW2 mainly to attack large cruiser due to their maneuverability and speed.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising will see the most realistic modelling of conflict scenarios in a new contemporary theatre of war. Codemasters confirmed that a first patch is in development, but did not give any details as to what it will address nor its time frame.

Digital distribution outlet GamersGate has formed a distribution agreement with Strategy First to host some of their key titles on GamersGate’s online marketplace. To celebrate this partnership, Strategy First and GamersGate are offering the entire lineup of Strategy First titles for 20% off their full price.

While Activision recently opened a studio in Bay Area California, and recruited former Visceral Games people for it, it seems other studios are not so lucky. Recently acquired 7 Studios, previously working on Scratch: The Ultimate DJ, had to let go half of its employees in order to "realigned its business to focus its development resources on the music genre." Long time studio Shaba Games, best know for Shrek Super Slam and Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, fared even worse as "Activision evaluates the resources at our studio properties to ensure that they are properly matched to our product slate and overall strategic goals, and recently made the difficult but necessary decision to close Shaba Studios."

While on launch day Halo 3: ODST sold 1 million units, the game has gone on to sell 2.5 million units since launch, and there are Halo plans for at least the next 6 years...
