a year after acquiring the Rise of Nations developer, THQ has notified the Big Huge Games staff that it is looking to sell off the studio, or closed it down, according to
Crispy Gamer. As part of its
restructuring efforts THQ will cut costs by $220 million, and lay off 600 employees worldwide. To achieve that goal it will not only close BHG, but also granted Heavy Iron and Incinerator their independence. Closing Big Huge Games would be the second big loss for real time strategy gamers after Microsoft recently
shut down Ensemble Studios.

David Hayter, known as voice actor for Solid Snake but also Watchmen co-writer, has formed Dark Hero Studios. Hayter has teamed with Bratz/Doomsday producer Benedict Carver to form "a company that will generate film, TV, Internet and video game projects in the action, sci-fi and horror genres," according to
Variety. Dark Hero Studios' first project will be a movie called Demonology, about a student attending an international high school in Belgium.

With a complete graphical and engine overhaul, Championship Manager 09 allows users to lead their teams to glory in a completely new version designed to give managers a true feeling of ‘total control’ over their teams and clubs. Eidos and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on behalf of DC Comics announce Batman: Arkham Asylum, a 3rd-person action game powered by the Unreal Engine 3, with a dark and gritty setting reminiscent of Bioshock.
