Vivendi Universal Games today announced that Half-Life 2 will ship to retail outlets around the world in November. The Company confirmed that Half-Life 2, developed by Valve Software, has gone gold with a planned retail street date of November 16, 2004. The countdown to the highly anticipated retail street date has begun around the world, as VU Games completes plans to ship localized versions of Half-Life 2 simultaneously in English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, Korean, Thai and Japanese

Take-Two today announced financial results for its third quarter and in comparison to last year, sales & revenue are down and instead of a profit Take2 is running a $14.4 million loss. In its defense it has to be said that last year's thrid quarter has several key titles, with its sequels now due in the fourth quarter. Main revelations in the results are the fact that Take 2 liquidated its Gathering publishing division, and instead syphoned everything under its GlobalStar umbrella. Atari today announced that the Terminator 3: The Redemption web site has gone live. Developed for Atari by internal studio Paradigm Entertainment for PS2, Xbox and GameCube, and set for a September 7th release date, Terminator 3: The Redemption is loosely based on the 2003 summer blockbuster, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.

While it was already revealed a week or 2 ago, Atari has announced plans to develop "Dragonshard" a real-time strategy game based on the Dungeons & Dragons universe created by Wizards of the Coast. "Dragonshard" will be the first game set in the exciting new D&D campaign setting, Eberron, a cinematic and war-torn world of action, adventure and intrigue where fantasy meets magical technology.

Valve has selected Japan-based Namco, Ltd. as its representative to distribute its already famous games, including Half-Life, Counter-Strike, and Day of Defeat, to the cyber cafe community in Japan. Namco is currently the only authorized cyber cafe reseller in Japan for Valve games.

In preparation for the launch of Nintendo DS in North America and Japan later this year, Nintendo today announces developments for the dual-screen, wireless, hand-held video game system. Ubisoft today announced Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell 3, the third blockbuster in the millions-selling Splinter Cell franchise, will officially be called "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory." The game will be available on Xbox and PC for Christmas 2004, and on other formats in Q1 2005 (PAL territories), including the N-Gage platform, published by Gameloft.

Electronic Arts has launched the official website for Black Hole Games' 3D RTS Armies of Exigo, a fantasy RTS where the boundaries of the battlefield are broken and war is waged both above and below the ground. This game takes strategy to new depths as elves, beasts, knights, and creatures of the darkness are locked in an epic battle for survival.
