Disney announced that henceforth Buena Vista Games will be known as Disney Interactive Studios reflecting a change in creativity, the weight of Disney content in their portfolio, and the enormous value consumers see in the Disney brand. DIS will publish both Disney and non-Disney branded video games for all platforms worldwide under the company's consumer brands including Disney, ABC and Touchstone.

Only operational for about three years, EA confirmed today that it will be closing down its Japanese development studio as part of a consolidation, and instead will focus on working with external Japanese developers. The studio's three titles still under development, Theme Park DS, Sim City DS, and Dragon Zakura DS (based on a Japanese TV & Manga series), will continue until completion, after which it will close its doors.

Due to SimBin growth strategy a new studio was opened in Falun, Sweden, on Jan. 24. The new studio was opened by the cutting of the ribbon at the opening ceremony in front of a 100 guests. Falun has one of the top Game Developer schools (Tension Graphics) in the Nordic region, and the new studio is to develop full game productions for a specific platform, and is already fully occupied in a project where more information will be revealed over time.
