Blizzard today announced that its MMO World of Warcraft has surpassed two million paying subscribers worldwide. As the game's worldwide population continues to grow, so does the game itself: Blizzard recently introduced the highly anticipated player-vs.-player (PvP) Honor System and the game's first two Battlegrounds, Alterac Valley and Warsong Gulch. 20th Century Fox and Universal Pictures are teaming up to make a feature film adaptation of the Microsoft video game Halo. Negotiations still were under way late Thursday, but under the deal, Universal will take domestic rights and Fox will handle international.

The European Commission found in March 2004 that Microsoft had violated antitrust laws by competing unfairly. It fined the world's largest software company a record 497 million euros ($613.1 million) and also ordered it to share information with rival makers of servers used to run printers and retrieve files, an issue known as interoperability. Microsoft announced today that it will release a version of its Windows operating system without the Media Player application on June 15 to comply with European Union anti-monopoly rules.
