Metro3D, Inc. today announced that it has partnered with Developer Irem Software Engineering Inc. to introduce Sub Rebellion for the Sony PlayStation 2 game console. This fast-paced 3-dimensional submarine exploration shooter, which was released as -U- Underwater Unit in Japan this May 2002, is slated for a U.S. release in October 2002, and features a "Teen" ESRB Rating.

Guess how many people have applied to change their names to "Turok"?? No, go on, guess.

Acclaim UK invited applications to take part in a project known as Identity Marketing, whereby individuals will change their names by deed poll to Turok, the hero in the title of Acclaim's epic new release, Turok: Evolution. In a little over 12 hours, over 3,000 people have applied to swap their identities for those of a video game character and new applications are being submitted to the website that is dedicated to this project at the rate of 20-30 per minute.

There is a Dragon's Lair 3D trailer at PC.IGN.com, showing the cel-shaded third-person action adventure by DragonStone Software in motion. The movie requires a 30.2 MB download in MPEG format and offers two minutes of introductory and action-packed gameplay footage. The official Beam Breakers site offers a new Beam Breakers trailer of this futuristic flying car racing game by German developers Similis. You can download or stream the movie in four different resolutions (7-10 MB), and it sports a minute of DivX footage introducing the game's premise and showing some fast-paced gameplay. Elixir Studios' offers downloads of a new Republic: the Revolution movie trailer in high quality DivX format (47.5 MB) as well as medium quality AVI format (27.0 MB) but both in 320x240 resolution, showing the game's setting, detailed cities and more in some two and a half minutes of in-engine footage. The official Battlefield: 1942 web site has started a clock counting down the days, hours, minutes and seconds to the release of the multiplayer demo for the upcoming WWII multiplayer game. According to the clock the demo for Digital Illusions and Electronic Arts' game will be released at 12 noon PST (3 p.m. EST) on Friday and will contain the Wake Island map, five player classes and eight kinds of vehicles, including planes and ships. BAM! Entertainment, Inc. today announced that it is shipping the action adventure game, Kong, for the Game Boy Advance to retailers this week. Based on the television cartoon "Kong: The Animated Series" from global entertainment company BKN International, the game was developed by the French studios of Planet Interactive Development.

Vivendi Universal Publishing (VU Publishing) announced today the formation of Black Label Games, Inc., a new development studio that will publish PC and console-based interactive entertainment products for the company's global Games division, Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games). The new studio will develop titles based on original intellectual properties, as well as content licensed from external strategic partners. Black Label Games joins VU Games' roster of industry- leading studios, which includes Blizzard Entertainment, NDA Productions, Sierra Entertainment and Universal Interactive.
