At the CES 09 in Las Vegas, Microsoft announced Kodu, an Xbox Live community pick-up-and-create game where anyone can build their own unique world in just minutes using a simple image-based creator menu that makes game creation simple for anyone, from ages seven to 70.

Sending out invites to a press event, EA confirmed the next Spore addon will be called Spore: Galactic Adventures. Gamers will experience deeper Space stage gameplay when the expansion launches in March 2009. For the first time, players' space faring creatures will be able to beam down from their spaceships to explore new planets and earn rewards for completing challenging missions.

Monster Hunter is an online action game originally released on the PS2 in 2004, offering gamers the challenge of exploring vastly detailed environments confronting mammoth creatures and completing the numerous quests that await them. Capcom is porting the game to the Wii, adding a 16/9 mode and multiplayer.

Supreme Ruler 2020 is a strategic and tactical geo-political game where direct control of the military and the policies of a nation becomes the key to survival. The Global Crisis add-on adds new single- and multiplayer maps, new sandbox map, improved UI/AI/graphics, and plenty more.

Halo Wars is a strategy game based on the Halo universe where players will command armies of familiar and new UNSC units in its initial encounters against the Covenant, an alien coalition threatening to obliterate mankind. At CES Microsoft's Robbie Bach revealed that a demo for Ensemble Studios' RTS Halo Wars will be available on Xbox Live Feb. 5, 2009.

During a Billboard Digital Music Live Q&A session at the CES 2009 in Las Vegas, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopolous revealed that there will be no new installment in the Rock Band franchise this year. Instead Harmonix will skip a year and put its focus on the previously announced Beatles game, a title built from the ground up in collaboration with Apple Corps., scheduled for release holiday 2009. Whether the new Rock Band title in 2010 will include keyboards, Rigopoulos remained vague, only saying "maybe."
