The title is currently in development for release sometime in 2003 and the publishing rights are currently under negotiation with major global publishing entities. They expect to make a formal announcement during the summer. A new version of the Day of Defeat Half Life Modification is now available, with four separate downloads to choose from, depending on whether you are upgrading a Beta 2.1 Windows or Linux installation or doing a full install for either OS. Tecmo Ltd. maker of the best- selling "Dead or Alive'' series of video software, plans to release the latest version of the action game next year. The new game will be a sequel to "Dead or Alive 3,'' the martial arts fighting game released exclusively for Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox game console. Tecmo hasn't decided which console the sequel will be designed for as it is still in early development, President Junji Nakamura said in an interview. "Dead or Alive 3'' is the best-selling Xbox game in Japan and has sold more than 1 million copies worldwide, a level regarded as a blockbuster in the video-game industry. The company supplied "Dead or Alive 2'' for Sony Corp.'s PlayStation 2, and switched to Xbox because of that machine's better graphics.

official site for Day of Defeat today announced the linux build release at 11am PST(2pm EST) followed by the Windows client at 3pm PST. Day of Defeat is a World War II multiplayer total conversion of "Half-life." DoD attempts to recreate WWII battles in both fictional and non-fictional environments. DoD puts you in the shoes (rather, combat boots!) of either an Allied or Axis soldier circa 1944, Western Europe.
