'Assassin's Creed' (PS3) Coming to PC

by Rainier on Aug. 31, 2006 @ 2:07 a.m. PDT | Filed under News

Since its multiple-platform unveiling at E3, which was then reversed by a PS3-only announcement, rumors have been rampant about which platforms Assassin's Creed will actually appear on. A four-page article in PC Gamer UK is the first proof that Ubisoft is not only working on Assassin's Creed for PS3, but also for PC. While an official announcement has not been made, Ubisoft officials did confirm that a PC version is indeed in the works and is tentatively scheduled for 2007. Now that the PC edition has been disclosed, an Xbox 360 port is still possible, considering the similarities between the two platforms.

'Assassin's Creed' (PS3) Not So Exclusive?

by Rainier on May 16, 2006 @ 5:38 a.m. PDT | Filed under News

At last week's E3 Ubisoft introduced its newest, PS3-exclusive, action game, Assassin's Creed. Oddly enough, during the demo we noticed the game was being shown using an X360 controller, which would indicated the existence of either an Xbox 360 edition, or PC version, or both. This also seems to get extra credibility by a slip of the tongue from a Ubisoft employee, who inadvertently said it is currently also being developed for Microsoft's next-gen console.

The Prettiest, Noblest Assassin

If you set aside all things Nintendo in their own special, line-hundreds-deep category, the non-Wii-related star of E3 2006 belonged to Ubisoft. The Assassin's Creed demo chamber barely contained the frenzy of last-minute glimpse-seekers during the waning hours of the show. As if the situation weren't dire enough already, Steven Spielberg and a small entourage arrived just in time to commandeer the room for 30 precious minutes while all of us who didn't direct "Munich" hassled the PR people for a good position

The first Assassin's Creed left me a bit cold. It was a visually stunning game with silky-smooth controls and lots of interesting ideas, but it also had enough flaws to be solidly average at best and tedious at worst. I was understandably hesitant when I went to see Assassin's Creed 2 during E3. Fortunately, Assassin's Creed 2 appears to have been designed entirely to counter every almost every criticism leveled against the original game. From the moment the demo began, I found that every
