A Fallout MMO has been talked about since 2004, but Interplay was forced to sell off most of its licenses due to financial reasons. When Bethesda acquired the Fallout license, Interplay kept an exclusive Fallout MMO license, under certain conditions. Interplay's annual 10-K filing reveals that Bethesda might be trying to cash in on that, claiming that those "certain conditions," namely full production within 2 years and funding, have not been met, which would revert the MMO license back to Bethesda. Now it seems the Fallout 3 developer is following through as it has formally filed suit against Interplay for their inability to move forward with the MMO, but also for making digital distribution deals with GOG and Steam for its back catalog and repackaged products which have not been approved by Bethesda (thanks NMA).

DJ Hero expands Guitar Hero's signature social gaming to all-new consumers with the addition of diverse music genres including hip-hop, R&B, Motown, electronica and dance. Electronica outfit Daft Punk has teamed up with Activision to not only contribute 11 tracks but the duo will also be available as in-game characters and have their own stage featuring some of their real life show props.

Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version return players to the scenic Johto region first introduced in the original Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver games nearly a decade ago, now enhanced for the NDS(i) with updated graphics/sound, as well as new touch-screen features and a host of surprises.

Okamiden: Chisaki Taiyou, loosely translated as Okami Legend: The Small Sun,  follows the same art style as the PS2 and Wii titles, and while it plays off in similar environments it is an all-new adventure set several months after the conclusion of the original where you follow a new, younger character. Obviously, gameplay is similar to the previous Okami titles with the DS stylus being used to draw your magical symbols.

New Star Grand Prix is a top-down racing game inspired by classics such as Super Sprint and Micro Machines, but brought bang up to date to feature all the teams, drivers and tracks of the 2009 Grand Prix season. For the first time ever, you can customize the makeup of your band with any combination of instruments in-game: two guitars and two drums, or three guitars and a microphone, etc. while also adding new gameplay mode. While Courtney Love is taking legal steps for unauthorized Kurt Cobain usage in GH5, Activision claimed it has the necessary licensing rights, but now former Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic also stated that they think Activision went overboard and should patch the game so that Cobain can only be used as a character for the two Nirvana tracks. Courtney further responded saying that she made a deal memo but never planned on signing anything, and that her lawyer has "cooked up" something special for Activision. To be continued...

It seems that the Guitar Hero 5 debacle is far from over, with Courtney Love actually having a point: Kurt Cobain rapping or singing a Bon Jovi song just doesn't feel right. His former bandmates claim that everybody was under the impression that the likeness would only be used for Nirvana songs, but once the character's been unlocked, you can use Cobain throughout the game, which really makes him look less legendary.

I had to visit the dentist today for a routine check-up and walked away with a clean bill of health, apart from the usual "brush more" comment. For people who know me, these visits are a big deal due to some childhood trauma, which I'll spare you the details of, and they always put a knot in my stomach.

Today is 9/11, the 8th anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center and the day that the world as we knew it changed. We remember the lives lost that day and think of the soldiers who have made the greatest sacrifice for our country. As a former military man, I have nothing but respect and admiration for the brave men and women in uniform who were -- and continue to be -- in harm's way and continue to serve our country, regardless of whether you believe that the cause is just.
