Sony has rolled out new PlayStation Store content starting with the Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Gift Pack (free, includes three new maps), double dose of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rush (including the special guitar solo edition of Working Man) tracks for Rock Band, and no less than four demos (Siren: Blood Curse, Monster Madness: Grave Danger, WALL-E, and Spiderwick). Of course there are the usual game/movie trailers, PS3 themes and wallpapers.

Rock Band 2 builds upon the first music game to introduce co-op band gameplay, multiple instruments, online multiplayer, unparalleled downloadable content and raises the bar by delivering an entirely new level of depth, connectivity, authenticity and features. Owners of the original will be able to download the entire set list, in addition to the 80+ songs that come with RB 2.

Apart from The Who drama, and Rock Band 2 leaks, MTV and Harmonix announced that the next addition to the Rock Band Music Store will be two tracks from Red Hot Chili Peppers (Snow Hey Oh, and Tell Me Baby) as well as a double dose of Rush (Closer to the Heart, Working Man). Especially worth of note is that Rush's Working Man track is different from the old DLC, a never before released recording of the hit single with an alternate solo.

Yesterday it was revealed that The Who's promised 1971 classic rock album Who's Next would be unable to be offered as DLC as Harmonix has been unable to locate all the masters of the decades old album. Instead The Who's Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey would create a 12-song best-of compilation pack of master recordings, which the remaining band members have now unveiled.

That EA would be making a sequel to last year's Rock Band isn't much of a surprise, EA Announced it will be available in North America in Sept., first on X360, and other platforms later. DLCs from the original will be playable in the sequel, and while the peripherals from the first outing are compatible with RB 2, there will be updated instruments available as a bundle package.

MTV and Harmonix announced that the next addition to the Rock Band Music Store will bev a Crüefest trackpack featuring Mötley Crüe's Down At The Whisky, Papa Roach's Time Is Running Out and Trapt's Who’s Going Home With You Tonight. Also available for download is Promised Land from fictitious hair metal band Vesuvius, featured in the upcoming Fox comedy The Rocker, featuring Rainn Wilson.

MTV and Harmonix announced that the next addition to the Rock Band Music Store will be a triple trackpack from Weezer, including Dreamin', The Greatest Man that Ever Lived, and Troublemaker. That is on top of the previously announced full Pixies album Doolittle on June 24.

While MTV and Harmonix are releasing The Offspring's new Hammerhead single this week (currently on XBL, tomorrow on PSN) the band itself revealed that more famous/classic tracks are expected, namely Come Out and Play (Keep 'Em Separated), Self Esteem, Gone Away, All I Want, Pretty Fly (For a White Guy), and The Kids Aren't Alright, although no release schedule was revealed.

Harmonix MTV Games, and EA announced that for a limited time Rock Band Special Edition Bundle for the PS2 is available for a MSRP of $99.99 at participating retailers.

Additionally, the northeastern England post-punk revival band Maxïmo Park will make their North American single debut with 'Girls Who Play Guitars' as downloadable content for Rock Band.

Rock Band allows you to perform music from the world’s biggest rock artists with your friends as a virtual band using drum, bass/lead guitar and microphone peripherals, in addition to offering online connectivity. The game will feature Japanese musical acts as well as other localized assets.

MTV and Harmonix announced that three of Jimmy Buffett's biggest and best (Margaritaville, Cheeseburger In Paradise, and Volcano) are getting re-recorded specifically for Rock Band, while the two Best Buy-exclusive Disturbed songs (Indestructible and Inside The Fire) will become available to all owners, as well as a third new track, Perfect Insanity.

The second complete album is coming to the Rock Band downloadable content catalog: The Cars’ 1978 self-titled debut will be available Tuesday, May 27. The Cars was released 30 years ago this month and spawned a slew of new wave classic hits.

Harmonix and MTV Games announced the latest slate of downloadable tracks available for Rock Band is a special collection of singles featuring the nine tracks showcased in the Euro version of the game including some of Europe's heaviest hitters: UK's Blur, Muse and Oasis, German rockers Tokio Hotel, Die Toten Hosen, H-BlockX and Juli, and French natives Les Wampas and Pleymo.

On June 3rd, 2008 hard-rock band Disturbed will release its new album Indestructible, and if you pre-order through Best Buy, you will get instructions on how to download their hit single Indestructible and Inside the Fire through Xbox Live Arcade.

Harmonix and MTV Games announced the latest slate of downloadable tracks available for Rock Band. Starting May 13 for the X360 (May 15th for PS3) players will be download a three-pack of rock radio hits from the late ‘70s: Blondie’s Hanging On The Telephone, The Clash’s Train in Vain and Sonic Youth’s Kool Thing from the early ‘90s.

MTV Games and Harmonix have partnered with McDonald's to offer eight downloadable Rock Band tracks at a discount! MTV Games and Harmonix will release two songs every week over the next four weeks for $.99 a track (80 Microsoft Points) on both PSN and XBL.

Rock Band Track Pack Volume 1 for the Wii and PS2 features a 20-Track electrifying mix of classic hits and current favorites, including songs by Boston, Nine Inch Nails, Stone Temple Pilots, and All American Rejects.

Earlier today Viacom, MTV Games and Harmonix parent company, revealed its latest financial results. First quarter 2008 revenues of $3.12 billion grew 15% from $2.72 billion in 2007. Media Networks revenues rose 16% to $2.02 billion, principally driven by strong sales of Rock Band. Viacom expects to further that success with the upcoming release of Rock Band on the Wii and the game's launch in Europe.
