rolled out new PlayStation Store content starting with the Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Gift Pack (free, includes three new maps), double dose of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rush (including the special guitar solo edition of Working Man) tracks for Rock Band, and no less than four demos (Siren: Blood Curse, Monster Madness: Grave Danger, WALL-E, and Spiderwick). Of course there are the usual game/movie trailers, PS3 themes and wallpapers.

Apart from The Who drama, and Rock Band 2 leaks, MTV and Harmonix announced that the next addition to the Rock Band Music Store will be two tracks from Red Hot Chili Peppers (Snow Hey Oh, and Tell Me Baby) as well as a double dose of Rush (Closer to the Heart, Working Man). Especially worth of note is that Rush's Working Man track is different from the old DLC, a never before released recording of the hit single with an alternate solo.

Yesterday it was revealed that The Who's promised 1971 classic rock album Who's Next would be unable to be offered as DLC as Harmonix has been unable to locate all the masters of the decades old album. Instead The Who's Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey would create a 12-song best-of compilation pack of master recordings, which the remaining band members have now unveiled.

That EA would be making a sequel to last year's Rock Band isn't much of a surprise, EA Announced it will be available in North America in Sept., first on X360, and other platforms later. DLCs from the original will be playable in the sequel, and while the peripherals from the first outing are compatible with RB 2, there will be updated instruments available as a bundle package.

Earlier today Viacom, MTV Games and Harmonix parent company, revealed its latest financial results. First quarter 2008 revenues of $3.12 billion grew 15% from $2.72 billion in 2007. Media Networks revenues rose 16% to $2.02 billion, principally driven by strong sales of Rock Band. Viacom expects to further that success with the upcoming release of Rock Band on the Wii and the game's launch in Europe.
