After our little trip to the Apple store last weekend to fix my iPod, it died on me again yesterday. While the customer service was great in fixing the issue, I thought it was quite weird that a re-format was done so quickly — it seemed more like an erase than a clean wipe — so I decided to go into disc mode, do a low-level format it, and restore the functionality. So far so good, as everything seems to working again.
