Once called Apogee, 3D Realms has been responsible for some of the most classic of games, like Rise of the Triad, Commander Keen, and pioneer of the FPS genre in general with Duke Nukem/Wolfenstein 3D. While Apogee is still working on the Duke Nukem Trilogy, Take Two holds retains the DNF publishing rights, and whether it intends to do anything with that remains unclear.

Longtime Square Enix developer Tri-Ace is jumping ship to SEGA for yet another RPG, End of Eternity. The game follows Zephyr, PMC employee Vashyron, and Subject 20 who is condemned to die on her 20th birthday. End of Eternity's battle system involves real-time gunplay elements, along with the aforementioned military theme.
