More than 40% of all homes in the USA contain at least one video game console, adding up to serious demand for electricity.
A study by NRDC and Ecos Consulting on the energy use of game consoles reveals that they consume an estimated 16 billion kilowatt-hours per year, enough to power the city of San Diego for an entire year, while more user-friendly power management features could cut the nation's electricity bill by more than $1 billion per year.

With the New Xbox Experiences rolled out earlier today, Xbox 360 Fanboy spotted an ad that reveals Microsoft will be releasing new items for your avatars every 2 weeks. "Come back every two weeks to check out new items. We'll be doubling our fashion selection over the next few months." Newly arrived items will be labeled with a yellow star in the Avatar Creator Tool, although whether or not the content will be free isn't clear at this point. Microsoft also plans to roll out a full-fledged Xbox Live Avatar store in spring 2009.

revealed today that its merger with Tecmo, known for the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive series, will be completed by April 2009, as it plans to acquire Tecmo's shares for $207 million and will then henceforth operate under the Tecmo Koei Holdings label.
