Last year 3D Realms' George Broussard revealed he would be interested in bringing Duke Nukem 3D to Xbox Live Arcade, and that it was up to Microsoft to make it happen. According to
an insider over at IGN it maybe very well happen rather soon, as it seems scheduled to launch on Xbox Live in the next few months. 3D Realms' classic FPS will of course sport enhanced gfx, but apparently also feature a four-player online co-op, as well as an eight-player online deathmatch mode.

Ever since Microsoft decided to go with HD-DVD for the Xbox 360, there has been a "format war" with Sony. With Warner's decision last week to go Blu-ray exclusive, many industry insiders predict it's only a matter of time for the score to be settled.
According to Reuters, Xbox group marketing manager Albert Penello stated that, "It should be consumer choice; and if that's the way they vote, that's something we'll have to consider." Microsoft never confirmed or denied possible Blu-ray support ...

At the CES Microsoft revealed that it is bringing Brøderbund's classic platform action game Lode Runner to Xbox Live Arcade. Developed by Tozai/Southend Interactive, known for Ubisoft's Deathrow, the idea is to make the remake as faithful to the original as possible, just in a new jacket, and is scheduled for later this year. Whether the much heralded editor will also be included was not revealed.

Fly through treacherous 3-D environments with Omega Five, a graphically explosive next-generation shooter firing its way onto Xbox Live Arcade. Also this week, Disney Interactive Studios and Backbone Entertainment bring back an arcade classic, “Tron.” Both games will be available this Wednesday, January 9 at 9:00 a.m. GMT (2:00 a.m. PST).

Microsoft's Xbox Live General Manager Marc Whitten made an official statement regarding the Xbox Live hiccups over the holidays, when users reported connectivity issues. The system had trouble coping with the influx of new user sign-ups, and to compensate, Microsoft will be offering all Xbox Live members around the world access to a free download of an Xbox Live Arcade game. Well here is a nice rumor to start off the new year! A forum poster on the
Altgn blog was recently taking a Universe at War survey through Microsoft Retail Zone, a website interface to educate employees of electronic retail stores, for the upcoming X360 version. One of the questions about the game's defining features compared it to Blizzard's upcoming StarCraft 2. Is this a mere marketing stunt to appeal to fans of SC2, or might Microsoft be courting Activision/Blizzard for an Xbox 360 version?
