Acclaim Games announced that industry veteran Mark Skaggs, known for EALA's C&C and Lord of the Rings titles, has become the latest Advisory Board member to join David Perry's Project Top-Secret game team, and he will be contributing his time to the largest community-developed videogame project ever created.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is Nintendo's latest incarnation in the popular Super Smash Bros. series of titles, featuring all-new characters ranging from Kirby and Wario to Samus and even Metal Gear Solid's Snake. After a long wait, a few delays, SSBB has hit retail today, although with a snag. Several people are reporting their Wii can't read the dual-layer discs.
Nintendo recognizes the issue, and is asking for people to send in their console for a lens cleaning, making you unable to play any games at all. Joy!

With the German CeBIT (information and telecommunications technology) exhibition wrapping up this weekend, an interesting report has surfaced, Germans are switching from PC to game consoles. Traditionally one of the strongest PC gaming markets in all of Europe for decades, German games software sales were up 21% last year, in particular 65& for mobile devices, 38 % for PS3/X360 and Wii, while PC sales have dropped by 3%.

Activision revealed that two new Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock track packs are set to storm living rooms. Available today on XBLA/PSN is the Modern Metal pack, which includes Deftones' Hole in the Earth, Avenged Sevenfold's Almost Easy and Thrice's The Arsonist.
