GDC's parent company CMP Game Group conducted a study making a tally of the number of people working within the video games industry in North America. The Game Developer Census 2007 lists 39,700 professionals developing or publishing games within the United States, and more than 8,100 professionals in Canada.

Game advertising spending in the U.S. will grow from $370 million in 2006 to more than $2 billion in 2012, according to a new Parks Associates report. Over that time, game advertising will achieve a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 33%, much higher than that of other major advertising media, including TV, radio, print, and the Internet.

At the Hollywood and Games Summit, LucasArts head honcho Jim Ward
confirmed earlier rumors that it is working on a lightsaber enabled game for the Wii, "internally we have already played a lightsaber game on the Wii. It’s a lot of fun, and we’ll get there." Whether this is in addition to the Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga was not clear, but the LucasArts will be having "some stuff out this Fall."

Playlogic Entertainment announced that it has signed a worldwide 3 year license with a 2 year extension, on all platforms, based on the popular franchise Dragon Hunters with French Futurikon.
