Capcom today announced the release of Way of the Samurai 2, the long awaited sequel to Acquire’s Samurai series for the PlayStation2. With a multitude of new features including expanded content, new characters and enhanced fighting mechanics, Way of the Samurai 2 improves upon every facet of the original to deliver an even deeper samurai based action adventure.

KOEI today announced that Samurai Warriors for the Xbox has gone gold. The Tactical Action game will ship to North American retailers on July 13, 2004. Gamers can still pre-order the game now at ebgames.com and gamestop.com.

Play as the brave Yukimura Sanada or other legendary warriors including the mysterious Nobunaga Oda, and the ninja, Hanzo Hattori. Your quest will take you to the sprawling Japanese battlefields of Okehazama and Kawanakajima and inside the embattled walls of Osaka Castle. Come face-to-face with gun-toting troops, echelons of ninja, and deadly kunoichi (female ninja).

Samurai Warriors takes the techniques and expertise gained during the production of the award-winning Dynasty Warriors series and combines it with new energy to create the next evolution of Tactical Action games. For the first time players will enter the world of ancient Japan to fight in both historical and fictional battles.

Set in 16th century Japan, the fall of the Ashikaga Shogunate caused a series of major wars between individual warlords vying for power. This era in Japanese history became known as the Sengoku or "warring states" period. Sammy Studios, Inc today announced the lineup of videogames it is showcasing at the 2004 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). This year's show marks several milestones for Sammy Studios, with the company showing its biggest-ever portfolio of games, and its products representing the first US-based internal development and licensing efforts for parent company Sammy Corporation of Tokyo, Japan.

Take-Two Interactive announced today that its Global Star publishing label has shipped Serious Sam: Next Encounter for the PlayStation2 and GameCube to North American retailers and is expected to be released in Europe and Australia on April 30, 2004. Developed by Climax, the newest addition to the popular first-person shooter franchise features online play for up to eight players and two-player split screen action on the PlayStation 2, a four-player deathmatch option on the Nintendo GameCube, and two-player cooperative mode for both platforms. Serious Sam: Next Encounter is rated M for Mature and is available for the suggested retail price of $19.99.

Seven Samurai 20XX puts players in the role of the young Ronin Natoe. SEGA of America today announced the release of "Samurai Jack: The Shadow of Aku" for GameCube and PlayStation2. Developed by Adrenium (an Amaze Entertainment Studio), and licensed by Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, "The Shadow of Aku" delivers a 3D interactive experience that captures the look and feel of Cartoon Network's popular animated series.

LucasArts quitely put a notice on their website to announce that the Sam & Max sequel has been cancelled. "After careful evaluation of current market place realities and underlying economic considerations, we've decided that this was not the appropriate time to launch a graphic adventure on the PC" says Mike Nelson, Acting General Manager and VP of Finance and Operations. There is currently no plan to reduce staff.
