Half-Life 2 roared home with six prestigious Awards at this year's BAFTA Games Awards, winning in the categories Best Game, Action Adventure, Online & Multiplayer, PC, Art Direction and Animation. Burnout 3: Takedown scooped three Awards in the categories for Racing, Technical Direction and PlayStation 2. In the other individual console categories, Halo 2 won the Xbox category, and the GameCube category was won by Prince of Persia: Warrior Within.

In another creative coup for its next generation Xbox platform, Microsoft today announced that developers Yoshiki Okamoto, President & CEO of Game Republic (formerly known for Capcom titles like Onimusha, Final Fight et Street Fighter), and Tetsuya Mizuguchi, Creator and Co-founder, Q Entertainment (known for Sega titles like Rez and Space Channel) have aligned with Microsoft Game Studios to develop exclusive next-generation Xbox games.

Playing with pull back friction vehicles, ‘Mad Tracks’ players will battle in numerous challenges like races (Weakest link, red light, Roller Coaster...) or mini games (Snooker, table soccer, long jump, crocket, bowling, Darts...). ZOO Digital Publishing is bringing Climax's RPG Sudeki to the PC. Currently undergoing the latter stages of development, the game will be released at the End of March 2005. Already released on Xbox, the PC version of Sudeki remains faithful to the original's acclaimed gameplay, but takes the adventure to an even greater level with improved visuals and richer sound.

Got Game Entertainment today announced that it has reached a co-publishing agreement with Merscom to bring "Laser Squad Nemesis" for PC to North American retail. Namco announced today that the latest installment in its drift racing franchise, "Ridge Racer," has gone gold for the PSP. "Ridge Racer" will offer gamers signature "Ridge Racer" drift handling at breakneck speeds and be available in stores at the PSP's launch.

SCEA today confirmed its plan to increase the initial launch shipment of the highly anticipated PSP to one million units. Extraordinary consumer response to PSP on a global scale has led to the company making an upward revision in preparation for its North American launch on March 24. This figure is part of the company's overall three million-unit worldwide shipment estimate by the close of its fiscal year ending March 31.

PlayFirst and Ubisoft today announced the launch of Chessmaster Challenge, a downloadable PC game based on the award-winning Chessmaster series. Designed for chess players of all levels, Chessmaster Challenge can be a teacher, mentor or the ultimate opponent. One hour of full-version gameplay is available for free and an unlimited version of the game can be downloaded for $19.95.

Championship Manager Online is a stand-alone massive multiplayer online football management simulation. As well as testing your managerial skills against thousands of human opponents, the game offers a "buddy league" mode that lets you compete in a league against just your friends. Championship Manager Online is being developed by online games specialist Jadestone in conjunction with Beautiful Game Studios, developer of the PC version of Championship Manager.
