The BioShock movie adaptation of 2K's action game will begin production in 2010, and John Logan (The Aviator, Star Trek: Nemesis) has written the screenplay, while BioShock creator Ken Levine is consulting. Earlier this year Pirates of The Carribean's Gore Verbinski hit a snag and the BioShock film was put on hold. Excessive budget concerns made Universal Pictures ask the involved parties to look for an alternate filming location. Due to the delay the filming now conflicts with Verbinski's next movie Rango, and while he is still going to produce, the directing has been passed on to 28 Weeks Later's Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.

Playing as the anti-hero, rage through the wrath of fearless enemies and build the nastiest and most profane army you can think of in this new-style invasion action game.

Playlogic's naval RPG title Age of Pirates II: City of Abandoned Ships combines compelling gameplay and wonderful graphics thus bringing a new experience to all the fans of daring sword duels and ship-to-ship combats.

Section 8 is a futuristic FPS that brings strategy and tactics to the genre in a game where players can modify the battlefield on the fly. You are part of an elite infantry squad with a penchant for taking on suicide missions that no one else will tackle.

Former Majesco Santa Monica artist Valerie Schoman revealed that Majesco has decided to shut down the Los Angeles, California-based studio. A few years back, Majesco found itself in a spat of financial trouble, but after some rigorous cutbacks and restructuring has been on the path to recovery, so it comes as a surprise to hear about the closure. The L.A. studio developed two NDS titles (one due soon) and was said to be working on its first Wii game (thanks superannuation).

In Furry Legends, a casual action and platform game, players take control of unique characters who are best described as a furry ball, each with its unique powers, allowing the player to roll, jump, bounce, attack and perform other various moves with their spherical character. Without going into specifics, Furry Legends developer Gamelion revealed it's coming to new platforms.

Nintendo added a VC, a NDSi, and one WiiWare titles to the Shop Channels. Nintendo owners with online access can redeem Points to download: PictureBook Games: Mr. Driller W (Wiiware), Pop+ Solo (NDSiWare), and Super Empire Strikes Back (VC).

Pyro Studios, currently working on Planet 51, revealed that the Spanish studio will be working on a new installment in its popular Commandos franchise as soon as it wraps up the animated film-based action/adventure. While the first two titles were a big success, the 3rd one, making the move from strategy to 3d FPS, was not, so Pyro Studios has decided to go back to its roots and make Commandos 4 a real-time strategy game. No further details, nor a projected release date, were disclosed.

For the first time ever, you can customize the makeup of your band with any combination of instruments in-game: two guitars and two drums, or three guitars and a microphone, etc. while also adding new gameplay modes.

Majin: The Fallen Realm is a new fantasy action adventure title from Japanese studio Game Republic, pushing the boundaries of cooperative AI gameplay to deliver a new kind of experience set in an exotic and mysterious wide open fantasy universe.

Zoo Vet: Endangered Animals is a new simulation game set in an urban zoo where you test your skills as an animal doctor. Using your stylus, give check-ups, treat major and minor illnesses, and even perform surgeries.

Castle Crashers is a four-player game, where players are knights on a quest to regain a stolen idol. Embark on the adventure on your own or with up to three friends and discover the mind-boggling magic and mystery in the mythical world.

Advent Rising is a third-person, intergalactic action/adventure of epic proportions, akin to a fast-paced action movie where the player is swept up in an ever-evolving series of sequences and events. Originally developed by GlyphX Games, the game's designer Donald Mustard, now with Epic studio's Chair Entertainment, which is comprised of several former AR developers, would love to continue the original trilogy idea, but the IP is owned by Majesco.

John Cena, Undertaker, Randy Orton, Edge and Rey Mysterio will headline the new game, which promises to deliver player freedom never before experienced in the SmackDown vs. Raw franchise.

StarCraft II will feature the return of the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg races, overhauled and re-imagined with Blizzard's approach to game balance, designed to be the ultimate competitive RTS game. At Blizzcon's StarCraft II lore panel, Blizzard revealed that Battlestar Galactica star Tricia Helfer will voice Kerrigan.

Set within a near-fictional, historical WWII setting, players take on the role of the heroic OSA agent BJ Blazkowicz as they are thrust into the unknown and unexpected to battle against combat troops, otherworldly forces, and the dark science created by a supernatural Nazi force hell-bent on world domination.

Inspired by the popular and addictive “tower defense” genre in PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe, the player controls a defender-of-the-forest character in a lush 2D environment. The player’s goal is to strategically defend the pathway to his homebase from an onslaught of various threatening monsters.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is a 3rd-person action game powered by the Unreal Engine 3, that exposes players to a unique, dark and atmospheric adventure that takes them to the depths of Arkham Asylum – Gotham's psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane. With the game due in stores next week, an in-game advert revealed that a FREE DLC will be available soon on both PS3/X360.

The story of Valkyria Chronicles II takes place two years after the conclusion of the original game. A group of young Gallian Military Academy cadets find themselves plunged into a bitter civil war when the newly formed Gallian Revolutionary Army stages a coup. As the epic drama unfolds in the game, players will experience stories of friendship, love and growing pains during a time of war and revolution.

Sacred 2 is a action-oriented deep fantasy RPG where players are immersed in an epic journey through the medieval-like kingdom of Ancaria featuring pitched battles and a wide range of enticing quests. While Sacred 2 has been quite a success, it was the demise of publisher Ascaron, and the developer recently closed down. Deep Silver will be publishing the addon later this year, and revealed at GamesCom that it has acquired the license, and Sacred 3 is already in the planning stage.
