The official site for SimCity let us know that Maxis is moving the launch of SimCity 4 and The Sims for the PS2 to January 2003. Here is the scoop:

Sierra Entertainment, Inc. today announced that the Tribes Aerial Assault videogame has shipped to retailers nationwide. Created exclusively for the PlayStation2, the Tribes Aerial Assault game is one of the first to use Sony Computer Entertainment America's network adaptor for PlayStation 2 for online play over the Internet, allowing up to 16 players from around the world to compete with, and against, each other in the same game.

Vivendi Universal Publishing (VU Publishing) and Crave Entertainment today announced the signing of a worldwide publishing agreement granting VU Publishing's Games division (VU Games) exclusive rights to the multi-platform release of Whirl Tour. Scheduled for launch in the fourth quarter 2002, Whirl Tour offers players a unique combination of action, extreme sports and adventure-based game play. The title will be available for the Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation2 computer entertainment system.

Rage, one of the UK's leading publishers and developers of entertainment software, is pleased to announce that is has launched a dedicated website for its forthcoming officially licensed 'Rocky' series of games due for release this Winter on the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, Xbox video game system from Microsoft and Nintendo GameCube at www.rockythegame.com. GameSpy: Why did you choose to announce StarCraft: Ghost in Japan rather than the U.S.?

Bill Roper: We really think that Tokyo Game Show is pretty much the spot for console gaming. Also, we’re really looking forward, with our association with Capcom, to hopefully really break into a market that’s been difficult for American companies to get into -- to show our dedication to that, to show our commitment to not only getting into the market, but for really working hard with a well known, well respected Japanese company to make the game accessible to the sensibilities in this market.

Atlus U.S.A. announced today that Dual Hearts, a breathtaking 3D action / role-playing game (RPG), available exclusively for the PlayStation2 has shipped to retailers. Featuring a wonderful storyline and a unique combination of puzzle-solving gameplay and action-packed sword swinging, Dual Hearts will draw you into the fantastic world of Rumble and Tumble and never let go.

Japanese publisher and developer Kemco has shipped Egg Mania and Egg Mania: Eggstreme Madness. The addictive pick-up-and-play action-puzzle game was developed by HotGen Studios Limited for PS2, GameCube video game system and Xbox and will hit retail outlets nationwide with an SRP of $39.99. Egg Mania hits stores on the Game Boy Advance with an SRP of $29.99.

The squad-based, action-adventure game, which will be presented in 3D real time, will be divided into three phases. The initial part of the game will involve stealth and strategy. Players will have to gather their escape squads and the equipment (wire cutters, digging tools, identity cards, etc.) necessary to succeed. The second phase will involve selecting the best method of escape and implementing it successfully - timing will be crucial. Burnout 2: Point of Impact boasts bigger tracks, fully decaled motors and all-new thrilling crashes. Reckless driving is rewarded with an improved Burnout meter: take to the air, slide through corners or swerve to avoid a near head-on collision to fill the meter before unleashing an adrenalin fuelled power surge. A new points system allows you to unlock challenges and modes throughout the game. One of the new modes is 'pursuit' that allows you to drive a police car in hot pursuit to try and ram the opponent off the road.
