EA Brings 'Final Fantasy X-2' To Europe & All PAL Territories

Electronic Arts today announced that its EA Partners division has signed an exclusive distribution and publishing agreement with Square Enix Co., Ltd for FINAL FANTASY X-2 on the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system throughout Europe and all PAL territories. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

'Final Fantasy XI' (PS2) Goes Online March 2004

Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. announced today that Final Fantasy XI, the latest installment of the critically acclaimed FINAL FANTASY series, will be available pre-installed on the upcoming internal 40GB Hard Disk Drive exclusively for the PlayStation2. Final Fantasy XI, an online only title, will be among the great content only available with the internal Hard Disk Drive release in March for a suggested retail price of $99.

Final Fantasy VII at TGS?

Japanese gaming website Game Antenna has the first information on what could be a massive relevation at this month's Tokyo Game Show - a remake of or sequel to Final Fantasy VII might appear at the event (thanks Exodus).

Though it's generally believed that Square Enix is set to show off Final Fantasy XII, since the game is still scheduled to be released by April 2004, rumblings out of Japan seem to indicate that the company may have one more ace up its sleeve: some new version of FFVII. While they can't confirm or deny these rumors, it is an interesting thought and something that has been speculated by critics and hinted by developers for quite some time.

The Tokyo Game Show takes place in Tokyo, Japan, from September 26 to September 28.

Square Enix U.S.A., Inc. announced today that "Final Fantasy XI" for PC will begin shipping to North American retailers in late October. "Final Fantasy XI", the first online title in the world-renowned series, is a cross-platform, cross-continent massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). Japan Charts: Final Fantasy XI Add-On Goes In At #1

Gameindustry reports that Square's online experiment doing well despite all the stumbling blocks.. The first official add-on disc for Square's PS2 online RPG, Final Fantasy XI, has debuted at the top of the Japanese charts with week one sales of over 90,000 units, proving the continuing popularity of the title. The add-on pack, Vision of Ziraat, is priced at 3980 Yen (€30), and sold 92,000 copies according to official figures, while a bundle featuring the full game and the add-on pack entered the charts at number 31 with unit sales of about 4,500. According to Media Create's figures, FFXI has sold 150,000 units to date, meaning that around 60 per cent of players picked up the add-on in its first week on release - indicating that there's still a very keen level of interest in the game, which Square Enix charges a monthly subscription fee to play.

Nintendo of America Inc. and Square Enix today announced three new titles in the incomparable 'Final Fantasy' and 'Mana' game series will be published and distributed by Nintendo of America Inc. for exclusive play on Nintendo platforms. Developed by Square Enix, the three titles, 'Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles', 'Final Fantasy Tactics Advance' and 'Sword of Mana' are each scheduled to launch in North America this year, followed by European launches shortly thereafter.

You can now sign up for FINAL FANTASY XI Public Beta test @ Square Enix (thanks VE3D). The goal of this Public Beta process is to test connectivity to the PlayOnline network as well as give a few lucky players a sneak peek at the FINAL FANTASY XI and the PlayOnline network. To be considered for participation in the Public Beta test program, you must completely fill out and submit the online application form on their website!

Final Fantasy Origins' - Ships In April

Square Electronic Arts L.L.C. the exclusive publisher of all SQUARESOFT products in North America announced today that FINAL FANTASY ORIGINS for the PlayStation game console will begin shipping to North American retailers on April 8, 2003. FINAL FANTASY ORIGINS combines Square's groundbreaking FINAL FANTASY and FINAL FANTASY II role-playing game titles into one disc and will carry a suggested retail price of U.S. $30. Remakes of the two titles feature new cinematic movies, opening theme songs, event scenes including updates of the original event sequences, enhanced graphics, improved sound quality as well as new game play modes making the game accessible to beginners and veterans alike. Together, these two titles laid the foundation for the series and spawned many hit sequels that have now sold over 42 million units worldwide.

Today we have a brand new trailer showing off some in game footage from Square's next installment of their epic console RPG series Final Fantasy X2.
