LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC today announced its intent to develop versions of the company's highly anticipated first game of its Star Wars Galaxies online series for Xbox Live and PlayStation 2. Specific release dates for the Star Wars Galaxies-branded massively multiplayer games for the two next generation console platforms will be announced at a later time. This December LucasArts will release a Windows PC version of the game, developed by Sony Online Entertainment, titled Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided.

LucasArts will bring Star Wars: The Clone Wars, a ground and air-based combat action game inspired by and expanding upon one of the Star Wars galaxy's most dramatic and intensely fought conflicts, to Nintendo GameCube and PS2. Star Wars: The Clone Wars, to be published and distributed by LucasArts and developed by Pandemic Studios, is expected to release on both platforms in fall 2002.

LucasArts is working on their Beta Program. "More will be announced after E3". As they announced earlier they would be 3 to 4 beta periods, depending how test goes. The first round of testing will be limited to a hundred or so players, and in Beta 3 they will open up their testing to thousands of players.

Their role playing game (RPG), Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, will debut on the Xbox this fall and release on PC early 2003. Developed by BioWare Corp., the dramatic game features an original story set some 4,000 years prior to the timeframe of the Star Wars films in an era dominated by an epic conflict between the Jedi and the evil Sith. The return to one of interactive entertainment's most successful game series will feature a partnership between LucasArts and Activision, Inc., through its developer Raven Software, which will result in the incorporation of the acclaimed QUAKE III Arena engine in the development of Jedi Outcast. Raven Software has created many critically celebrated action titles, and are also well know for their Sof (and upcoming Sof2). So does this game do the Star Wars brand name right, or does it fade away like the DeathStar?

I'm battling my way through the game and i must admit ... i am impressed! The graphics are great .. the AI is good, the animations are crisp and above all .. the level design is fabulous ... tricky, hard, and big levels ... a few more days patience people ... it is da coming! In the meantime take a glimpse of what to expect and check the screens ... a whopping 60 and more coming as i slash my way through the game!
