American Technology Research analyst P.J. McNealy said the Xbox was likely to overtake the PS2 on a units-sold basis for the first time ever in the United States in April. He estimated Xbox sales of 275,000 units this month, versus about 200,000 units for the PS2. PS2 sales have been falling in the United States this year, and in the just-ended fiscal year Sony said PS2 unit shipments fell 37 percent in North America. Unless Sony cuts the price on its PS2 in order to spur sales, U.S. game software makers, many of whom track Sony's fiscal year, may find sales growth targets harder to reach, analysts said.

"We've already spent millions into this project, and we're willing to spend as much as we need to make this the best first person experience ever. NFS-Planet has a transcript of a community chat with EA Assistant Producer Scott Nielsen in where he confirms the next NFS title will be NFS Underground 2. During the chat he revealed several details on what to expect in the sequel such as : possibility for replay and observer/spectator mode, better online/cheat security, most likely no track editor, larger amount of online slots (NFS:U only had 4), better and more realistic physics, an expanded car list, option to turn off collisions, overhaul of the chat system/interface, better damage model. More info and the first screens are expected to be released at E3.
