Atari shipped The Terminator: Dawn of Fate, a third-person action game based on the hit movie franchise, to retail stores this week for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system and the Xbox video game system from Microsoft. The new game, Serious Sam 2, ironically now possibly referred to either factually or mistakenly by reps as Serious Sam 3, is apparently far into development and scheduled to hit in 2003, completely compatible with the Xbox's own Live multiplayer setup. Even fewer details are known of the PC version, but assumedly it is in concurrent development, since musings of that one have been around since well before the Second Encounter even hit.

Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. announced today that its Gotham Games subsidiary has shipped Conflict: Desert Storm for the PlayStation2, the Microsoft Xbox and the PC. Licensed from SCi (SEG.L) and developed by UK based Pivotal Games, Conflict: Desert Storm is now available at stores in North America. This is the first product release from Gotham Games, a publishing label established by Take-Two earlier this year.

THQ Inc. and Nickelodeon today announced that "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius" for PlayStation2 and "The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron vs. Jimmy Negatron" for Game Boy Advance are now available at retail outlets nationwide. The PlayStation 2 version features Jimmy Neutron, star of Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies' Academy Award-nominated, digitally animated motion picture, "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius." Activision, Inc. is looking for a few good console gamers with the announcement that the company's highly acclaimed first-person action game, Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix, will be migrating onto the Xbox(tm) video game system from Microsoft. The Xbox version of Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix will feature all of the over-the-top gritty action found in the PC version including visceral multiplayer combat, which will be available via Microsoft's Xbox Live. Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix for the Xbox video game system is being developed by Gratuitous Games and is currently rated "RP" Rating Pending by the ESRB.

Telewest Broadband has announced ahead of the start of Microsoft's X02 event in Seville, that it is an official broadband network partner for the European launch on 14th March 2003, a year after the launch of the console in Europe. Xbox owners will need a starter kit to get going, which will retail at around £39.99. It contains an Xbox Communicator kit, subscription to the Xbox Live network, and two free online titles. Consumer beta tests of Xbox Live are set to take place with 3,000 gamers in the UK, France and Germany from 30th October, with an open beta test scheme launching on November 30th.

Vivendi Universal Publishing (VU Publishing) and Crave Entertainment today announced the signing of a worldwide publishing agreement granting VU Publishing's Games division (VU Games) exclusive rights to the multi-platform release of Whirl Tour. Scheduled for launch in the fourth quarter 2002, Whirl Tour offers players a unique combination of action, extreme sports and adventure-based game play. THQ and Volition have announced that a Nintendo Gamecube version of Summoner 2 is currently in development and will be available in early 2003. "Summoner 2" for Gamecube is being developed by Cranky Pants Games, THQ's newest game development studio located in Seattle, Washington. Summoner 2 is the sequel to one of the PlayStation 2's top-selling launch titles, Summoner. Developed by Volition, creators of Red Faction. Summoner 2 for PlayStation 2 is available now at retail stores nationwide.
