A single-player demo of Delta Force: Black Hawk Down is now available, offering the opportunity to try out this upcoming tactical first-person shooter by NovaLogic. This is not the official demo (originates from a magazine CD) but it features one level set in Mogadishu where two Delta teams go on a mission to free a number of hostages. Well, after a few years of a break, Raven Software's Rick Johnson started to re-port Black Crypt (Raven's original game on the Amiga) over to the PC again rendering it with GL. He is hoping to have it mostly finished by the end of the Holiday Season. An initial test will probably be released soon, consisting of the first level, just to make sure the game works well. It currently requires a video card which supports 1024 texture sizes. All nvidia hardware supports this, but most 3dfx hardware does not (VooDoo3 and below). Read more for a few screens ...

Black Label Games, a studio of Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games), has announced it has entered into a production agreement with Liquid Entertainment to develop "The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Ring," a real-time strategy (RTS) game for the PC platform. The game will be developed through VU Games' long-term agreement with Tolkien Enterprises to create interactive entertainment based on J.R.R. Tolkien's epic novel "The Lord of the Rings." The game will be released in early 2004.

NovaLogic releases the Delta Force: Black Hawk Down Official Multiplayer Demo, the demo features one multiplayer level and includes day and night settings. The demo is playable over the NovaWorld Games Network and via LAN. The 60 MB file is available on
this NovaLogic Downloads Page which has a list of mirrors.

UPDATE NovaLogic sends word that there is an updated version of the Delta Force Black Hawk Down Demo available that removes the NetQuartz ezpad technology that's been causing problems. Update 11 can be apply by clicking the "update game" button. Word is "once this update has installed, consumers will then be able to uninstall the ezpad technology and play with the demo as normal. To fully uninstall ezpad, right click on the ezpad icon on the task bar, and select quit, then uninstall the software via the ADD/REMOVE Programs option in the control panel."
