Entertainment software publisher NovaLogic Ltd. today announced plans to release an open multiplayer beta test for the eagerly awaited title Delta Force - Black Hawk Down. The beta test will be one multiplayer level and is scheduled for release at the beginning of August 2002.

Reuters": a video game based on the botched 1993 raid in Somalia now known as "Black Hawk Down" and etched in American memory after two dead U.S. soldiers were dragged through the streets of Mogadishu. The company producing the game, Calabasas, California-based NovaLogic, said the game was patriotic, intended in part to educate the public about the U.S. mission in Somalia. But some critics question that aim and whether the game risks blurring the line between history and entertainment and altering perceptions about the bloodiest firefight in U.S. military history since Vietnam.

Electronic Arts announced that Ultima Online Lord Blackthorn’s Revenge, the latest version in the award-winning Ultima Online series, will be in European stores from April 5th. The game, created by Origin Systems, an Electronic Arts development studio, introduces 30 new monsters designed by Grammy and Emmy–winning Producer and Director Todd McFarlane, creator of Spawn, McFarlane Toys and Spawn.com. Alongside the new game, Origin Systems has also announced the release of Ultima Online GameTime, which allows players to buy periods of prepaid time in Ultima Online without the need for credit cards.

On the Game Developers Conference, GameSpy managed to get an interview with Peter Molyneux, where he amongst other things admits to having plans for Black & White 3. Here is a spot from the interview:
Early development of Black & White 3 will begin in a few months with a small team devoted to developing a new engine for the game. The storytelling will allow more branching instead of a straight linear variety. There will be different resolutions to problems, bringing a slight RPG aspect to the game. "I'm incorporating what we are learning from Project Ego to enhance the game experience," Molyneux said.
