According to an article in the
Gainesville Sun, Florida-based developer Artificial Studios, known for Monster Madness and the free AGEIA PhysX-based FPS CellFactor, has merged with UK-based Ignition Entertainment. Prior to the merger, Artificial Studios was already working on an action game for next-generation systems (
thanks Firingsquad). Southpeak Interactive's PS3 version of Monster Madness is under development at Psyonix Studios.

THQ announced results for fiscal Q3 2008, with net sales of $509.6 million, compared to last year's $475.7 million, driven by Cars: Mater-National, MX vs. ATV Untamed and SmackDown vs. Raw 2008. In the subsequent investors conference call, THQ CEO Brian Farrell revealed that Red Faction III is being developed by Volition for PS3, X360 and PC. Scheduled for fiscal 2009 (Apr. 2008 - Mar. 2009), RF3 will focus on interactive environments and destruction. First details on THQ's UFC-licensed title are expected during a pay-per-view event on Memorial Day weekend.

Ubisoft reported its sales for the 3rd fiscal quarter 2007 revealing sales are up about 50% compared to last year, fueled by Assassin's Creed and its causal line of titles, beating its own guidance by nearly 10%. Uncertainty regarding Haze continues as the recent retail date changes turn out to be unsubstantiated with Ubisoft's vague "will now be released in fiscal 2008-09," meaning April 2008 at the earliest. Also revealed are new titles in the Prince Of Persia and Anno franchises.

Ubisoft released its results for the six months ended Sept. 30, 2007, reporting sales are up 52%, driven by Assassin's Creed, which has already surpassed 1 million units sold, as well as Beowulf, Naruto and Rayman 2. Ubisoft also revealed that Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will be released during the Q4 of fiscal 2007-08, which will unfortunately be joined by Haze (originally due Q3). Splinter Cell Conviction has also been pushed until fiscal 2008-09 (second half of 2008).

Codemasters has reported the results from the most successful period in its 22-year history. According to the NPD Group the past 12 months Codemasters increased sales by 38% to $149million, with a 332% increase in sales of video game software in the US.
