LEGO Universe, will include expansive social and community features, as well as character advancement where you'll be able to customize your mini-figs and interact in the universe as any character you choose.

Activision released its fiscal year 2007 results revealing profits. Net revenue was up compared to last year, but although Q4 2007 sales and revenue doubled, they still turned a net loss of $14.4M. The conference call was more interesting, with Activision confirming Enemy Territory: Quake Wars and Guitar Hero Rocks The 80s scheduled for July-Sept., while Call of Duty 4, a new Marvel title (probably Spider-Man: Friend or Foe), Guitar Hero III, Tony Hawk, and Bee Movie are all due later this fall. The next James Bond title is a ways off in 2008, along with other new IPs.

At the Worldwide Invitational in Seoul, South Korea, Blizzard lead designer Dustin Browder (formerly of EA) just announced StarCraft 2! During the presentation lots of game footage was shown, but it has been confirmed — a full-on sequel nearly 10 years after the original. No mention of World of StarCraft (yet).

Sony's Q4 2007 financial results reveal the gaming division has lost $1.9 billion, mainly due to the below-production cost sale of the PS3, as well as declining PS2 hard/software sales. So far Sony has shipped, not sold, 13 million PS3 units, and a whopping 193 million PS2s. Sony expects a turnaround next fiscal year, as it is reorganizing and taking steps to cut production costs for the PS3.

THQ reported its net sales increased 27% to a record $1billion, driven by titles like STALKER, Cars, Supreme Commander, and WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2007. In the subsequent conference call, THQ executives revealed that the previously announced Saints Row PS3 port was canceled in favor of launching a full-on sequel on X360 and PS3 simultaneously, while Kaos Studios' Frontlines: Fuel of War was pushed back from holiday season 2007, to January 2008.

While the industry has been beating expectations the past few quarters, EA had less good news today. Net revenue was down 4%, gross profit down 5%, net loss increased, and net income was also down for the quarter, although on an annual basis, net revenue was up, primarily driven by the EA Sports lineup (mainly Madden), Need for Speed Carbon, and The Sims. During the subsequent conf. call EA CEO John Riccitiello revealed that Will Wright's larger-than-life title won't see the light of day until early 2008.

NCsoft reported Q1 2007 sales of US$91.2M (up 9%), net income of US$15.2M (up 107%), and while sales dropped 6%, operating income rose more than 10%. More interestingly, NCSoft plans to released Aion in Korea within the year and Dungeon Runners this summer, while Tabula Rasa and Guild Wars: Eye of the North are both expected late 2007.
