To promote season three of Battlestar Galactica, which begins Friday, Oct. 6, Sci-fi channel will be airing a one hour story-recap special called Battlestar Galactica: The Story So Far on August 13th. Narrated by Laura Roslin, the Secretary of Education turned President turned resistance leader on Cylon-occupied New Caprica. Learn about humanity's costly struggle to survive against its deadliest enemy. Microsoft announced that the one hour special will be available on Xbox Live, although no date, or price, were revealed.

Atari released its Q1 2007 results and while net revenue dropped from $23.9 to $19.5 million, mostly due to less titles in circulation, net losses were reduced from $32.8 to $7.1 million. After the recent sale of various franchises, Atari's CEO Bruno Bonnell announced in the subsequent conference call that it's now time to rebuild & grow the company. Unfortunately there was also less pleasant news, Eden Studios Aline in the Dark is getting pushed back from its original early 2007 date to fiscal 2008 (anytime after March 2007).

Activision released its financial numbers for Q1 of fiscal 2007, and while revenue dropped from $241 to $188 million, and net losses went up from $3.6 to $18 million, the overall results were better than expected, mainly due to strong sales of X-Men: ToG and Over The Hedge. The subsequent conference call revealed that Enemy Territory: Quake Wars has a tentative release date set for Q4 2007 (ends March 2007) and executives were impressed by the popularity of the two Call of Duty 2 mappacks, which garnered a total of nearly $1 million.

After weeks of speculations, AMD and ATI announced a plan to join forces in a US $5.4 billion transaction, combining AMD’s technology in microprocessors with ATI’s strengths in graphics. The merge is expected to close in Q4 2006 subject to approval by ATI shareholders, court approval, regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.

Majesco announced financial results for its second quarter ended April 30, 2006, and while there was a drop in net revenues (from $50.6 to $35.6 million), gross profit (from $8.4 to $3.9 million) and, these lower numbers are mainly due to the shift in policy. Operating income rose (from $821,000 to $1.4 million) mainly due to the sale of the rights and obligations of Teen Titans.

The ESA announced that it has filed suit today in Minnesota Federal District Court, asking that the State's new video game law be overturned. Similar laws have been struck down by six courts in five years, including the Eighth Circuit which governs Minnesota, costing taxpayers thousands of dollars in legal fees.
