After weeks of speculations, AMD and ATI announced a plan to join forces in a US $5.4 billion transaction, combining AMD’s technology in microprocessors with ATI’s strengths in graphics. The merge is expected to close in Q4 2006 subject to approval by ATI shareholders, court approval, regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.

Majesco announced financial results for its second quarter ended April 30, 2006, and while there was a drop in net revenues (from $50.6 to $35.6 million), gross profit (from $8.4 to $3.9 million) and, these lower numbers are mainly due to the shift in policy. Operating income rose (from $821,000 to $1.4 million) mainly due to the sale of the rights and obligations of Teen Titans.

The ESA announced that it has filed suit today in Minnesota Federal District Court, asking that the State's new video game law be overturned. Similar laws have been struck down by six courts in five years, including the Eighth Circuit which governs Minnesota, costing taxpayers thousands of dollars in legal fees.

Earlier today, EA released its fourth quarter
financial results, and while net revenue was $641 million, up from last year's $553 million, the overall result dropped from an $8 million profit to a $16 million loss. While numbers are boring, the subsequent conference call was not, as EA executives announced it is pushing back some of its heavy hitters. MoH Airborne moves from Q4 2006 to Q1 2007, SuperMan Returns will miss the movie launch this June and will be released at the end of the year with the DVD, while we won't be seeing Will Wright's Spore until at least April 2007.
