THQ released its financial results for Q3 2009 revealing net sales of $357.3 million, compared to last year's $509.6 mill., and a net loss of $191.8 mill., compared to $15.5 million net income the year before. Sales were driven by Saints Row 2 (2.6 mill. units), WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 (4 mill. units), de Blob (700k units) and Big Beach Sports (1.2 mill. units). However, due to lower-than-expected sales, THQ will further reduce spending through studio dispositions, project and 24% headcount reductions.

Stardock announced that it is expanding its current games division and will open a second games studio in Michigan, which will create up to 50 much-needed jobs and be responsible for an unannounced RPG title.

Revealed yesterday, Crytek announced that it has acquired all assets and business of Free Radical Design Limited, known for the Timesplitters series, and will now be integrated into Crytek’s network as Crytek UK.

SEGA Australia is selling 3,500 Limited Edition Vinyl Soundtrack on eBay, each record individually numbered, with the proceeds going to the Cancer Council of Australia.

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, aka SEGA Mega Drive Ultimate Collection, will feature the best first-party games from SEGA’s venerable 16-bit Genesis years as well as bonus content from its 8-bit Master System and 1980s arcade era games library.

Ubisoft announced it will be expanding its studio operations to Vancouver, BC, Canada through the acquisition of video game developer Action Pants Inc. The studio currently employs more than 110 video game developers, and is working on a new Wii exclusive sports title, as well as unannounced PS3/X360 titles.

Warrior Epic is a free to download & play online action/RPG set in an original fantasy universe, where players can utilize a wide selection of warrior classes to go out raiding dungeons in a variety of novel environments. Warrior Epic let you play co-op campaigns or slug it out with friends in PVP.

Activision announced its plans for the New York Comic Con show on Feb. 6-8, 2009. where it will have Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, Prototype and X-Men Origins: Wolverine on display, with both hands-on demos and producer-led demonstrations, special trailers featuring never before seen game footage, as well as panel presentations on all three titles, presided by the developers and writers.

Starting Tuesday morning at 0200 Pacific when you sign into Xbox Live you’ll be prompted for a mandatory dashboard update, addressing the issue that a few folks were having with audio and their HDMI connection.
