KOEI today announced that Samurai Warriors: State of War, its tactical action game set in the turbulent times of civil war Japan, has reached gold status, and will ship on March 7, 2006.

This morning UK publisher SCi made a brief statement that it "does not believe that it is in the company's or the shareholders' interests to prolong talks any further." The latest issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu reveals that Namco is working on a Tekken port for the PSP. Tekken: Dark Resurrection is based on the new Tekken 5 arcade game, including all of its 35 locations and characters. Eddy Gordo and Armor King are confirmed amongst the 30 or so playable fighters, and also various modes such as Time Attack, Practice and mini-games will be included. Tekken on the PSP will also support AdHoc multiplayer, and is scheduled for release in Japan this summer.

Could the Playstation 3 be coming as early as September 2006? According to Next Generation Sony's next-gen console will launch barely a few days apart in Japan and North America, and, as expected, Europe will have to wait. Not only that, but Next-Gen claims that Sony will unveil its unified online multiplayer service, larely based on Xbox Live, in the next few weeks, which is currently called PlayStation HUB. The service would be subscription-based and support voice, chat, downloadable content, as well as PSP multiplayer.

Citing disappointing holiday sales revealed in its financial statement last week, Activision is handing pinkslips to about 150 people (7% of its workforce). The layoffs had to happen in order to realign the company's operations for the next two years. Whether this will delay any of the current titles was not disclosed, but some teams will be trimmed down, so who knows ...

CDV's latest real-time strategy title, American Conquest: Divided Nation, has gone gold today. The game, which will be in stores in early April, will have players re-enacting some of the grandest battles of 19th century America.

Revealed a few weeks ago, Activision today officially announced it has signed a licensing deal that grants Activision the global rights, excluding Japan, to develop console, handheld and PC games based on the Transformers brand. The first game will be tied to the much-anticipated July 4, 2007 movie release of the live action Transformers film.

Blitz Games today announced the signing of its first title for Nintendo's next generation Revolution console. Details of the game itself will be announced shortly by a major publisher.

COR Entertainment has released Alien Arena 2006: GE, which features a host of new features and improvements, including 9 new maps, alt-fires for every weapon, a brand new vehicle(hovercraft), increased visibility, and improved bot AI.
