Sony is recalling 3.5 million faulty power adapters for its PlayStation 2 because they may overheat and cause injury. The adapters were made between August and December of 2004 for the slimline PS2, which has a free-standing power adapter to save space. PS2 owners can go to http://www.ps2ac.com to determine if their adapters are being recalled.

Shortly after California passed the first bill banning sales of Mature or Adult Only rated games to minor, the state of Michigan follows suit. Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today signed legislation that that will make the sale or rental of mature or adult-rated video games to children illegal. The new law applies to children age 17 and younger and will take effect on December 1, 2005 (thanks Blues).

Last week we reported how California passed a law ending the sale and rental of violent video games that depict serious injury to human beings in a manner that is especially heinous, atrocious, or cruel, to persons who are under 18 years of age. Today IEMA President Hal Halpin reacts to the events claiming that there is no need for such a law since stores are already doing the work on a voluntary basis, and Hal hopes Governor Schwarzenegger will veto the bill. The California State Assembly approved legislation to limit children’s access to extremely violent video games, now only needing the signature of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to become law. Assembly Bill (AB) 1179, formerly AB 450, calls for ending the sale and rental of violent video games that depict serious injury to human beings in a manner that is especially heinous, atrocious, or cruel, to persons who are under 18 years of age.

The fourth game in the PC strategy series that has sold over five million copies, Sid Meier's Civilization IV is a bold step forward for the franchise, with spectacular new 3D graphics and all-new single and multiplayer content. Civilization IV will also set a new standard for user-modification, allowing gamers to create their own add-ons using the standard Python and XML scripting languages. NCsoft North America has revealed the contents for the City of Villains Collector's Edition retail game pack that will be released to stores in North America when the game launches later this fall. Ubisoft Europe announced today that it will launch The Settlers Gold Edition on DVD at the suggested retail price of £34.99. Available on September 15th, the special DVD set will include both The Settlers Heritage of Kings and its add-on The Settlers Heritage of Kings Expansion Disk.

World of Warcraft Lead Producer Shane Dabiri has put up an updated battleplan looking ahead to what WoW players can expect in the coming months leading up to BlizzCon and the expansion announcement. Shane talks about adding mid-sized raid content, expanding current, and adding new, world events, PvP content and making it easier for lower level characters to advance in the PvP Honor System, improving underused talents for all classes, implementing is fee-based character transfers on the website, and closes off with a promise about soon coming details on the Hero class, and the WoW expansion at BlizzCon.

Microsoft Game Studios and Rare, Ltd announced today the Perfect Dark Zero Limited Collector's Edition for the upcoming release of the Xbox 360. In addition to two discs full of content, the sleek embossed, high-quality black metal game case contains "Hong Kong Sunrise," a special-edition comic booklet set in the "PDZ" universe which sets up the game's story, and one of nine mysterious Holographic Glyph Card collectibles.

World Championship Poker 2 features a much more detailed one player game, where you now have to work your way up the ranks, starting in your mom's basement. Once you start winning and accumulating money, you can spend your winnings on increasingly better pads, and furnishings. Hit a losing streak, and you may have to hock your stuff to stay in the game.
