Square Enix and Disney Interactive today announced they have shipped a total of 1 million units of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories in North America and Japan just two months after its launch. Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, an action role-playing game exclusively for the GBA, has been available in Japan since November 2004, followed by the release in North America on December 7, 2004.

Legion Arena is an online RPSG or Role Playing Strategy Game, and blends core gameplay elements from the RTS & RPG genres. Set in ancient Rome, Legion Arena puts the player in charge of their own army, which they must develop, nurture and train, transforming a bunch of peasants into a fearsome fighting force. Nobilis today announced they have signed a distribution agreement with publisher Kando Games for its latest aerial combat arcade game Rebel Raiders : Operation Nighthawk. Featuring 16 missions, and multiple unlockable bonus missions, Rebel Raiders : Operation Nighthawk is under development for PS2 and PC and expected to hit retail in April. Ubisoft has released a second demo for its action/adventure Prince of Persia Warrior Within. Details are a bit limited but apparently, this new demo features two levels different than those in the first demo - mixing intensive action and platforming - with CG cinematics and a trailer at the end. Vivendi has issued a small statement finally revealing some HL2 sales numbers. "Half-life 2 is already clocking up a massive success. With nearly 1.7 million copies sold in less than two months, this new release by Sierra Entertainment (a VU Games company) and Valve looks set to become one of the biggest hits of 2005. Sales have been particularly good in Germany, the UK, France, Italy, Spain and Scandinavia – as well as the US." Valve remains tightlipped on the amount of HL2 versions it has sold through its Steam service.

A product listing at online retailer Gamestop revealed that Activision is planning to release an addon for Creative Assembly's 3D RTS title Rome Total War. No specific name, or details of any other kind, were included, but the Rome Total War Expansion Pack has a tentative release date set for October 17th, 2005. More details should follow soon ...

Developed through a collaborative effort between Pandemic Studios and Mass Media, the game's innovative design, complex A.I. and advanced graphical prowess have been successfully transitioned to the PS2, pushing the hardware to its limits. We have just learned that the PS2 version will have an all-new exclusive level, not available in any of the previous PC or Xbox versions. Throughout the game, you always play an offensive role, but the new level will be the sole defensive mission. While you normally control fireteams Alpha and Bravo, you will now also have command over sniper team Charlie.

Square Enix has revealed a new MMORPG called Fantasy Earth: Ring of Domination which will try to combine RTS, RPG and Action, allowing you to forge alliances, build fortresses and citadels and duke it out with your allies against huge armies. Shocking and evil, Mortal Kombat: Deception pushes martial arts-style fighting and the Mortal Kombat franchise to new heights with an innovative fighting system, unparalleled depth and brutally intense action, lightning-fast hand-to-hand and special weapons combat, secret and returning characters, moves and combinations with new death-dealing battles and fatalities.

Making good money apparently isn't enough for EA as various online outlets have started reporting that former Maxis manager Neil Young, now spearheading the EALA campus, handed out roughly 60-70 pink slips, sending people home unemployed. While said firings were across the board, the Goldeneye: Rogue Agent and MoH: Dogs of War developers were amongst the biggest casualties. According to Young the layoffs, reducing the head count to 320, were neccesary as part of a restructuring and streamlining of EALA for the future. Read more about on GameSpot.

JoWooD is apparently not doing too well financially, as today it was revealed to us that the Austrian publisher is closing down two of its development studios. One of our Jowood sources confirmed that earlier this week, it was decided that Transport Giant house Studio Ebensee and Söldner's Wings Simulations will be shutting down in the next few months. Both studios will finish up current projects and then will have a small core team still in place for future patch releases and customer support. Wing Simulations will finish its current Soldner: Marine Corps addon, which is still scheduled for March, but the previously announced Söldner 2 project has been cancelled.

Today Ubisoft announced an exclusive multi-title licensing agreement with Sony Pictures Consumer Products to develop and publish games based on "Open Season" and "Surf's Up," the first two feature-length animated films from Sony Pictures Animation.
