Xbox Preview - 'Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis'

by Rainier on Jan. 1, 2006 @ 1:30 a.m. PST | Filed under E3 - Post - E3 2005

Genre: FPS, simulation
Publisher: Codemasters
Developer: Bohemia Interactive
Release Date: October 3, 2005

The first thing I noticed when the fine developers at Bohemian sat down with me to demo Operation Flashpoint was that the graphics were… to put it kindly, not exactly cutting edge. In fact, they looked like just what they are, a port of low-power PC graphics from 2001. Given how many polys the Xbox can push, it was an initially disconcerting sight.

Seeing a bit more of the game started putting the graphics into perspective, though. Flashpoint is the rare Xbox title that isn’t interested in

19. 'Dreamfall: The Longest Journey 2' (PC)

Genre: Adventure
Publisher: Funcom
Developer: Funcom
Release Date: Q2 2006

Joe Keiser: Dreamfall was one of my most anticipated games of last year, but now that it's been pushed into 2006, it has even less competition – it's my most anticipated game of the next 12 months, without question. The first game proved that the adventure genre still had plenty of life, in the hand of great creators. Ragnar Tornquist is that creator – Dreamfall looks to be gorgeous, deeply and intricately storied, and plans to make just enough concessions to the action-oriented to make it a game absolutely

Release Date: March 20, 2006

Chad "Wudi" Crawford: With over 200 hours of gameplay and 16 square miles to be explored in the world of Tamriel, Oblivion is practically an alternate reality that gamers will live in for hours at a time. Plus, there's the Radiant AI, which allows NPCs to respond to the world around them like a real person would, adding to the immersion. Character's skills grow stronger the more they're used, which should make it that no two characters are ever alike. Throw together the game world, character

'Fish Fillets 2' - Features & Screens

by Rainier on Jan. 1, 2006 @ 1:30 a.m. PST | Filed under E3 - E3 2006 May 12th

You are in control of two fish and you must use them to rearrange the objects in a given level in such a way that the fish can exit unharmed. One of the fish is bigger and can move even heavy steel objects while the other one is smaller and can enter the holes and corridors that are too narrow for its bigger partner. Simple as it may seem, this principle offers a variety matched only by its complexity.
