Black Box or Orange Box — it has always been somewhat confusing. One edition included Half-Life 2 Ep. 2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2, while the other added the original H-L 2, and Ep. 1 to the mix. Valve decided to
cancel the Black Box version, and instead only have the Orange Box with all of the content. The PC edition will include codes to download through Steam, so if you already have one of the titles, you can simply give the codes away to a friend.

Last week, forumite michi.be over at the
MapCore chatboards raised questions about certain DOOM 3 / Half-Life 2 assets being used in GSC Game World's action/RPG S.T.A.L.K.E.R. As it turns out, those particular assets are indeed being used by both titles, but are part of
a package sold by Marlin Studios, which lists both Valve and Activision as its customers, and confirmed its pre-made textures are being used in Half-Life 2.

Revealed by forumite michi.be over at the
MapCore chatboards, it seems GSC World might have been using assets from DOOM 3 and Half-Life 2. Screen captures allegedly comparing the light image folders from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. to those of DOOM 3 reveal they had been modified in various ways, such as having hue or saturation adjustments, but the original filenames were kept (for example, a file with the Doom-esque name "lights_impflash.dds), referring to one of the game's enemies. id Software CEO Todd Hollshead
commented they are aware of the issue and are looking into the matter, indicating the use may not have been authorized.

Assumingly the pushing back has to do with extra time needed to polish the game, considering it comes with Portal and Team Fortress 2.
