Atari, BioWare Corp. and FloodGate Entertainment have released the first official expansion to the smash hit "Neverwinter Nights", the award-winning fantasy role-playing game based in the "Dungeons & Dragons" "Forgotten Realms" world created by Wizards of the Coast. "Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide" is now available in stores nationwide and was developed under license from Hasbro Consumer Products Worldwide.

Global interactive entertainment publisher Atari, Inc. claimed an 18.4% share of video games software sales during May 2003, earning the Company the #1 rank among all video game publishers during the month, according to The NPD Group, Inc. The May 2003 sales performance compared with a 5.4% market share and sixth position among publishers in May 2002.

Building on the success of its Dragon Ball Z portfolio, Atari, Inc. today announced the first DBZ fighting game for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance, Dragon Ball Z: Taiketsu. Developed by WebFoot Technologies, the group that made the smash hit Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku game, Dragon Ball Z: Taiketsu is currently slated for release this November.

With just 18 days on store shelves, Atari's Enter The Matrix has sold through more than 1 million units in North America, making it the fastest-selling game in that territory in the Company's history. Enter The Matrix is a third-person action game that parallels Warner Bros. Pictures' and Village Roadshow Pictures' action blockbuster, The Matrix Reloaded, the second chapter in the Wachowski Brothers' revolutionary film trilogy. The game was released in North America on May 15 for the PS2, the Xbox, GameCube and the PC.

Atari Inc. Friday said it had sold more than 1 million copies of "Enter the Matrix" one week after the computer and video game hit shelves in the United States and Europe. The game was released May 15, the same day as the movie it is tied to, "The Matrix Reloaded." The game includes additional footage and is one of the most expensive ever made.

Under license from Hasbro Consumer Products, Atari has announced plans to take one of the most popular trading card games ever created to the Xbox videogame system from Microsoft with the release of "Magic: The Gathering - Battlegrounds." A PC CD-ROM version of the game was also announced. Already rumored earlier this week, it is now slowly becoming fact.Franco-American video game publisher Infogrames Inc., in an effort to increase its profile with consumers by reaching back into gaming history, on Wednesday said it would change its name to Atari. To mark the new Atari Inc. and the new ticker symbol 'ATAR', Chief Executive Bruno Bonnell is set to open the Nasdaq on Wednesday. On top of that i have noticed that one of my PR contact changed the Infogrames account to Atari.

The last studio linked to the iconic video game company is winding down its operations this month. More than a hundred employees are losing their jobs. Some of these staffers date back to Atari's heyday in the 1970s. One employee worked on Atari's second game, Tank. Parent company Midway Games, which bought Atari's arcade division in 1996, said the downsizing is necessary to cut costs.
