Ubi Soft Entertainment today announced a rebate program for its forthcoming Chessmaster 9000 PC title. Under the program, current Chessmaster owners will receive a $10 rebate when they upgrade to Chessmaster 9000 from any previous version of Chessmaster, starting with Chessmaster 4000. Chessmaster 9000 has an MSRP of $39.99, and will ship to U.S. and Canadian retail shelves on August 27, 2002.

When playing Combat Mission 2, you will be introduced to an extensive variety of detailed vehicles and combat units, in more than fifty vast missions and operations. Vivendi Universal Publishing (VU Publishing) announced today the formation of Black Label Games, Inc., a new development studio that will publish PC and console-based interactive entertainment products for the company's global Games division, Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games). The new studio will develop titles based on original intellectual properties, as well as content licensed from external strategic partners. Black Label Games joins VU Games' roster of industry- leading studios, which includes Blizzard Entertainment, NDA Productions, Sierra Entertainment and Universal Interactive.

Activision, Inc. announced today that the company has entered into an agreement with the U.K. - based developer, Team 17, to publish the highly anticipated title Worms 3 and an additional yet-to-be-announced Worms title. Under the terms of the agreement, Activision has acquired multi-platform worldwide publishing and distribution rights for the game, excluding PC rights in Korea, Taiwan and China.

Gamers can now enter the world of one of the summer’s biggest action thrillers with Activision, Inc.’s XXX for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance. The game is based on Revolution Studio’s “XXX”, which stars Vin Diesel and opens nationwide on August 9. XXX lets players assume the role of underground thrillseeker turned spy Xander Cage in a series of death-defying motorcycle and arcade-action challenges. BioWare Corp. today announced that they are working on two new games, both roleplaying games based on two new intellectual properties, created and owned by BioWare. The first of the two un-named titles in production is being developed for the Xbox, the second for the PC.
