'Pirates of the Caribbean' Scribe Writes 'Halo' Movie Script

Australian screenwriter Stuart Beattie, known for writing Pirates of the Caribbean, Collateral and most recently G.I. Joe and Gears of War movies, turns out to be a big Halo fan, and, according to Latino Review has penned a spec screenplay based on Eric Nylund's movel Halo: The Fall of Reach in an attempt to revive the project after movie studios Universal Studios and Fox backed out of the deal with Peter Jackson and Microsoft. A spec screenplay means "speculative," a term used for somebody writing a script on hisr own behalf, without payment.

Ubisoft Bringing Over 40 Titles To Steam

Back in early 2007 New Line Cinema (now a unit of Warner Bros.) acquired the movie rights to Epic's action game Gears of War, to be adapted by Stuart Beattie and produced by Temple Hill Entertainment. During an interview with ComingSoon Twilight producer Wyck Godfrey revealed when we can expect to see the movie in theaters, "We've got our script on and a director we're about to attach. We'll hopefully make that early next year for the summer of 2010."

Gearbox Under Siege After Signing In-Game Ads Deal

Earlier this week Gearbox announced that it had signed an in-game advertisement agreement with Double Fusion, which made the community quite uneasy. Belgian magazine PCGameplay has the first Dawn of War 2 details, revealing it uses an updated Essence 2.0 engine (used in Company of Heroes), Havok physics, optimized for DX10, multicore support, improved AI for awareness and pathfinding, as well as co-op campaign. Set in highly detailed city landscape, deserts, jungles, mountains and other cities, DoW2 plans to make units & squads unique (following you throughout the game) by giving them individual names, with armor, weapons, and rare objects being awarded for completing missions. So far Orkz and Space Marines races were revealed, but more will surely to follow.
