A study by NRDC and Ecos Consulting on the energy use of game consoles reveals that they consume an estimated 16 billion kilowatt-hours per year, enough to power the city of San Diego for an entire year, while more user-friendly power management features could cut the nation's electricity bill by more than $1 billion per year.

With the New Xbox Experiences rolled out earlier today, Xbox 360 Fanboy spotted an ad that reveals Microsoft will be releasing new items for your avatars every 2 weeks. "Come back every two weeks to check out new items. We'll be doubling our fashion selection over the next few months." Newly arrived items will be labeled with a yellow star in the Avatar Creator Tool, although whether or not the content will be free isn't clear at this point. Microsoft also plans to roll out a full-fledged Xbox Live Avatar store in spring 2009.
