Activision announced that it had record net revenues of $1.48 billion and net income of $272.2 million for fiscal Q3, respective increases of 80% and 90% over the same period last year, far exceeding their
expected revenue of $1.23 billion. This success was driven by strong sales of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero III, Shrek The Third, Spider-Man 3 and Transformers: The Game. Activision has increased its fiscal outlook to net revenues of $350 million for Q4 and $2.65 billion for the 2008 fiscal year.

Late January at the Marché international de l'édition musicale trade fair, Activision selected 20 tracks, out of 200 submissions, to be featured on Guitar Hero IV. Music label Albert Productions' UK boss James Cassidy was so excited he issued a

According to an article in the
Gainesville Sun, Florida-based developer Artificial Studios, known for Monster Madness and the free AGEIA PhysX-based FPS CellFactor, has merged with UK-based Ignition Entertainment. Prior to the merger, Artificial Studios was already working on an action game for next-generation systems (
thanks Firingsquad). Southpeak Interactive's PS3 version of Monster Madness is under development at Psyonix Studios.
